These dehydrated sweet potatoes are a fave of my hound. No, they aren’t cheap but you can cut the larger slices into smaller pieces which saves $. They have a leather-like texture good for chewing. Will order again.

We have been buying these for years (and buy them directly from Front Porch Pets, too!) because these are healthy, easy to digest, pure yams. Pictured is our female Newf, Pema who will literally sit and stare at the bag until we give her one! Look at here eyes - "Pleeeease, mom. It's been 5 minutes since I've had a yam." In the other picture BOTH of our Newfs are begging for a yam - seriously they love them so much.When we first introduced these treats years ago, Gigi at first was like, "what dis?" and didn't eat them as quickly as Pema, but now it's her favorite treat!The yams don't last that long with our big dogs (about 140lbs each), but that's okay as they still get a good chew out of them. We purchase other products from Front Porch Pets all of which are gobbled up and eagerly awaited. Highly recommend!!

To be honest, I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting here. I've never come across such a dog product, and I'm the queen at spoiling my dogs. What I received was a treat larger than expected, soft (as opposed to crisp), thick - which I love, chewy like a piece of good jerky, and excellent quality - not full of bad spots from bad potatoes. My dogs are still a bit unsure, which is to be expected as I've been giving them some sort of meat-based chewy, but they do all finish their piece. A few of my dogs are slightly overweight but they love their treats and I love treating them so I decided to switch over to a veggie chewy instead of some sort of animal hide or animal part. Do keep in mind, though, that these are full of fiber so make sure your dog has easy access to the yard until you find out just how your dog processes them. I have found that cutting a piece in half is better for my dogs as they really are quite large. In a nutshell, they are better than what I expected. Plus cannot beat anything organic this day and age. Five stars in my book.

(This is the same review I posted for the "Big Boyz" size of this product) ...We have three dogs, and one is a bit of a "picky" eater, and I have given Sam's Yams to ALL of them, with no complaints and wagging tails from everyone. I didn't want to have the mess on the rugs (or smell) of real rawhide, and I didn't want to worry about bone chips with regular bone treats. These are our guys' FAVORITE treat, hands down. To make them last longer overall, you can bend and break them into small pieces (which I always do), and simply give them as a smaller treat, vs. giving them the entire 'slice' of sweet potato as they come packaged in the bag. Even though they don't last for hours like a "rawhide" does, I just don't care. I've had my fill of trying to keep the dogs in one tiled area with their chews / bones so that they don't get crud on the carpet or rugs (that I have to clean!). With this product, you have: (1) a super healthy treat (2) something that doesn't have the risk of bone chips (although of course, I don't give them these treats and leave the house -- and I don't do that with any treat) (3) a treat that does NOT stain the carpet or rugs (at ALL!), or rub off or stain your dog's fur (4) a treat that is made from dried sweet potatoes and ONLY that ... no preservatives, no 'animal parts', no artificial colors, no chemicals, no other "mystery" ingredients that you can't identify - just 100% dried sweet potatoes. I've checked around and Amazon seems to have the best price - I recommend these VERY highly (and I would say that our dogs all agree!)

We have been ordering these for 10+ years. Always excellent quality with fast shipping. I like to break many in half…sometimes giving her a whole or a half depending on the situation. We have a medium size dog and she takes her time eating them…doesn’t just chew once and swallow…they take some effort.

We have two small dogs (under 20 lbs each), so I cut each sweet potato skin in half for a daily chew treat. These chews are an excellent source of fiber and vegetable nutrients to round out the dogs' dietary needs. The manner in which the sweet potatoes are dried produces a rawhide texture with fairly deep ridges - wonderful for daily care of canine teeth. The product is a little pricey but it's natural, real food, so well worth it for our best buddies. It is not a substitute for well balanced, regular dog food, but rather an excellent supplement and tooth care bonus. These treats are great for our yellow lab. I feel they are much better than other dog treats and it does not upset our dog’s stomach like some of the more meaty treats. I would like to have the option of a larger bag as we go through these pretty quickly .
