Q: Can you use this for hermit crabs?

They do not provide any heat, only light

Q: How do you use the timer?

The lights have the option to set a timer. By setting the timer (for 3,6 or 12 hours) the lights will turn on/turn off each day at the same time. I have mine set for 12 hours - so at 10:30 am they automatically turn on and at 10:30 pm they automatically turn off. The timer only sets the length of time. The time of day they will turn on and off will be based on when you set the timer button. Hope this helps.

Q: How many lumens is this product?

5 volts, 20 watts, LED. theses lamps never worked and the company refuse to fix them, my money went to waste. I have the lamps for a while before opening, I had to ask for a refund which I did not get the full refund. This company does bad business

Another commenter said their 5volts, 20watts. I use these along with a set of white grow lights on for 12 hours each day. They work great together actually.
