Ghosting, ghosting, ghosting.
After years of journaling in gridded Mead spiral bound notebooks, I thought I would treat myself to the real deal for 2021, and ordered this Moleskine Classic Notebook a few days ago. This will be great.. Actually, no. I am stunned by this product. Why is the paper in a $4.39 spiral notebook purchased at the grocery store superior to the paper in a $20 notebook from a company with an effete marketing program that portrays itself a itself as the purveyor of the finest writing tools? I tested almost every pen in my studio - gels, ball points, rollerballs, felt-tips, 0.3mm, 0.5mm, 0.7mm. Blue and black. Everything ghosted through the paper to such an extent that writing on the reverse side was out of the question. Take a look at my photos and then go ahead and buy one of these. I dare you. I have found loads of resources online that compare journals, it always come down to the paper, and Moleskine usually ends up on the bottom of the list. I can't believe I didn't do the research first. Please don't make the same mistake.

I have owned this for less than 24 hours and I hate the paper.
I decided to try my hand at this bullet journaling thing, or if nothing else, I need a planner as I am desperately trying to keep up with my schedule in my head. I also liked the idea of having a notebook that I could embellish and treat like a sketchbook. Honestly, I should have just gone and bought a basic everyday planner and a separate sketch book. When I received this journal I immediately started trying to add month and week layouts. I hate the paper so much. Unless you're only using pencil, you are going to have significant ghosting. So much ghosting in fact, that it does not encourage any unnecessary embellishment because it will just result in more ghosting. And that right there, destroys the sketch book idea that I had for this journal. I will probably take out the pages I had started and leave this book alone until I need a new book for research notes or notes from a conference, but for bullet journaling, no way. I have already scoured online reviews of journals and identified another brand that has heavier weight pages. It has been ordered to take this ones place.

I'll pass
I purchased a couple of these to use as bullet journals. It works ok, but I am dissapointed in the paper quality. Pens of all types can be seen through the pages (Micron, felt, ballpoint, etc. even colored pencils!). The pages are just a little thicker than tissue paper and are thinner than standard printer paper. You won't be able to write on the backs of the pages without making an unsightly mess. This is one of the more pricy notebooks I picked up, so I had high hopes that it would work great.

It's a moleskine it's exactly what you think
Moleskines are great little journals to have around. They look and feel great and I use them for nightly journaling. However, if you are someone who likes to use a fountain pen or a lot of colors you will absolutely see ghosting on the backside. I write lightly in pencil and I can still where I have written on the backside of the page. I would love to use some colors so -1 star because the paper weight could be adjusted and then hands-down it would be the best notebook available in my opinion. Also, if you are reading this and have never looked inside a Moleskine the pages are not plain white, they have a slight... yellow? color to them so pass on them if you like a bright white.

Great notebook for the Bullet journal
I found out about the Bullet journal and I bought this notebook to try it out. I wanted to do a bullet journal to try to organize my life and make my days more productive. So far the moleskine notebook is helping me to do it.I like the size. It's not too big and not too small. The cover is very supple, soft and durable. I initially was hesitant about opening the book all the way for fear of the pages falling out like other softcover books. That fear was unfounded as these pages seem to be sewn in rather than glued. So far no pages have fallen out even though I'm opening it all the way. The pages are also a good thickness and the back pocket is a nice extra feature. It's an awesome little notebook and fantastic for bullet journals.

Great high quality notebook
I'm a huge fan of the Moleskin journals. I went a long time using all sorts of different brands and everyone I met kept raving about the Moleskin journals. So finally I made the plunge to try one out on my own. I am now a huge fan and highly recommend them. The pages are a bit thin like the other reviewers state. You will have to assess that on your own with what kind of pen you use and what kind of notes you are going to take. If some bleed through bothers you then you probably want something else. Some pens bleed through very severely so you will have to test out what pen works the best. When I have time I'll do some testing with different pens and post my results. For now I use a variety of different pens but stay away from sharpies or any markers.I love how the cover can be folded back so you can write on just one page at a time. It's pretty comfortable to write on when sitting at a lecture with just your lap as a surface to write on.I use my journal to keep track of my work projects and also have a few others I use for writing projects and ideas. It really helps to have it all in one book instead of a bunch of loose pages all over your bag and house. The construction is very solid and is holding up to day to day abuse and use. The pages are holding together well and the binding is sewn in so it's very hard to loose a page. I love all the colors you can get and I get a different color for different subjects. This blue is a bit darker than you think it would be. It's like a dark teal. Very pretty!Worth the price? I think so. You get what you pay for!Highly recommended and great for the obsessive note taker. ;)

A nice attempt, but lots of shortcomings.
While this notebook feels good in the hands, the actual quality of the paper is poor. Its a very fine, smooth stock, which is nice, however its far too thin and most all pens will bleed through to the next page. The cover is well constructed and the book is bound well, but I found myself using other notebooks over this simply based on the paper weight not being high enough.

Perfect diary for the serial diarist.
I’ve used moleskine diaries for years now abs it’s the best, I used micron pens around 0.1-0.5 thick pens and it’s writes beautifully. If you used a fountain pen the ink will bleed through slightly so it’s best for gel ink pens. The lines are narrow and are just right for keeping my handwriting neat and I fit lots on the page. A5 size soft covers never peel or scratch lovely and off white cream pages add a touch of luxury with round corners, picket to keep loose bits abs elastic enclosure to keep everything together. It’s my prefect diary for a serial diarist. Lovely bright colours as well. The price on Amazon is also cheaper than then the usual price of £22 from moleskine. Very pleased! Have purchased the blue diary too and will purchase again.

Great quality notebook, just be careful of which size
LOVE LOVE LOVE Moleskine notebooks. I write notes for my work every day and a lot of people comment on the quality of this book when I bring it into meetings. Lots of lovely coloured covers as well. The binding is strong and doesn't deteriorate with constant opening and closing, the paper quality is high (no bleeding of ink) and there are a good number of pages in the book. Also a little pocket at the back which is handy for loose pieces of paper, although they do of course give you a lump in your page as you get close to the back. Ribbon to find your page easily and elastic strap to keep the book closed when not in use. Overall excellent quality and worth it in my opinion (in case you're wondering how a plain notebook can possibly cost so much). I often have trouble selecting the right size though, as sellers aren't always clear in specifying. The 'large' size is approx. A5 size (more or less), I accidentally bought extra large once which is about the height of a portrait A4 sheet and a bit wider, but actually I found I preferred that size in the end.

Classic moleskin Notepad... for £14 this !
What a horrid A5 notepad, with thin paper that bleeds when writing with fountain ink pens. The paper is awful and the price, £14!Better off with the jotter pads, and other similar notebooks. As for the size, give me full scape, at least you can rest your hand while writing on the pad and then on the table. These little things... ache the arms and hands.

Good quality
I ordered this because I adore the A5 soft backed diary which I order every year and wouldn't be without. I couldn't resist this notebook therefore and, although I'm still not sure what I'll use it for, it's of the same good quality and would have many uses. Not sure how one would evaluate 'sturdiness' but the diary crrtainly lasts all year without any deterioration.
