Good bargain water transfer pump
Pump works like a champ. No thrills, simple cast iron pump. The recommended not using garden hoses for the inlet, they are correct. You need a 3"+ 3/4" NPT nipple on each side, add a quick discount or GHT for a garden hose. If you use a garden hose, use a commercial grade hose. Otherwise the suction is too powerful and will pinch or collapse the hose.

Junk
Absolute junk. Purchased unit in Nov. 24 and stored until Spring when I needed it to drain water off my above ground pool cover. Filled pump with water to prime, plugged in and pump ground, bucked and rocked. Motor has now seized and pops ground fault breaker when plugged in. To be fair, from condition of foam packing in box pump must have received a hard drop somewhere along the line and motor shaft is probably out of alignment. Past Amazon return window so my choices are to throw it away or use as an expensive doorstop. Have to make trip to Harbor Freight to get a usable pump.

I would've gave it 5 stars if it wasn't for all the preventive maintenance
It took a lot of time and effort trying to figure out how to install it and operate it. For a second there I honestly thought I might've had to get a refund. But once I figured out how it operates then everything worked out fine.Cons: It makes a loud sound when I turn it on which is louder than my previous transfer pumps. It requires a lot of preventive maintenance before turning it on, like making sure there's water inside the prime plug and checking the operating health of the carbon brushes that's inside the transfer pump.Pros: Once I got it to work it pushes out a steady fast stream of water through my off grid shower head in my bathtub which is much faster than my previous transfer pump. I think I'll keep it. I'll buy another one for my kitchen. I would've gave it 5 stars if it wasn't for all the preventive maintenance.
