They are not removable but you could always just cut them off.

Q: Is this backpack waterproof?

It is not waterproof. But I sprayed it with waterproofing spray and it does the trick.

Q: Can it keep food cold?

No. It is not insulated to be able to do that.

Q: Does this have a luggage strap for a suitcase?

There is no strap for putting it on the handle of a suitcase.
