Excellent night light without using up an outlet and helpful with the light switch model, too.

O.K. I ordered several of the SnapPower lighted electrical outlet cover plates to use as nite lights or path lighting. I then installed a few on my kitchen counter outlets and found they make GREAT under-the-counter lighting. Doing so, I had a couple of locations where having the under-the-counter lighting being emitted from a single and gang switch plate was my ideal scenario for my lighting needs.Unfortunately, upon installing the SnapPower switch plate lights, I was sorely disappointed. The SnapPower switch plate lights are not as photo sensitive as the wall outlet cover plates and require the room to be TOTALLY dark and the light that the switch plate lights emit is way under bar, not being even half as bright as the electrical outlet lighting, even when set to the brightest setting.The switch plate light is not useful for illuminating surfaces, but does help you find the light switch when in TOTAL darkness.Needles to say, this was a very expensive 'experiment' that DID NOT achieve my expectations. Save you money and do not buy the under-performing SnapPower SwitchLights.

Provides the perfect amount of light at night.

Installed per directions on single pole switch. Does not work at all. Reached out to manufacturer.There’s a three position slide switch : off, low, hi in this unit. Make sure that the switch is on the “on” position - all the way to the right.This isn’t mentioned in the simple install instructions. If you check the troubleshooting instructions, it says move the switch all the way to the left.So the switch does work.Note that when the wall plate light is on, a small amount of current flows through the circuit. In my case, this resulted in the overhead light illuminating slightly.The light isn’t very bright, but it may be enough. Jury is still out.

I love that I could install this myself. The light isn’t as bright as I had hoped but still more than adequate for what I need.

Initially the light in this switch plate did not work. After observing the contacts during installation I saw that the contact arms were reaching too far in, past the switch terminals. After some minor adjustment to the shape of the switch plate contacts, it made the connection and worked great. It still works as it should 3 weeks later.

It does exactly what it says. It taps the HOT line and so uses the lamp's filament to complete the night light circuit. As such, the nightlight that works flawlessly with directly resistive lamps such as incandescent and halogen lamps, since the current draw is below the lamp's filament threshold. When used with an LED lamp, however, some lamps, presumably the dimmable ones, will glow faintly since the driver will pick up the weak current (the circuitry used in the night light is resistive and so acts just like a very weak dimmer switch). I use this in the bathroom which has an LED lamp, so the faint glow is a plus.
