It works. Install was painless; I used the iFixit guide. The tri-lobe screwdriver was too small for the screw heads, really, but it worked and didn't tear them up, at least.Anything would have been an improvement, because my old battery was completely dead, like to the point that every time I bumped the power cable, the computer would die and I'd have to reset the clock when I rebooted it.This battery seems to be giving me plenty of time--it claims over five hours, although I've not fully tested it. It certainly seems to last quite a while. I haven't noticed any unusual behavior from my computer. No error messages or anything of the sort. This battery had good reviews but was slightly cheaper than the competition, so I gave it a go, and I'm happy with the buy so far.

This is in a mid-2010 MacBook Pro 17, a wonderful laptop that I'm happy to keep going as long as possible. I've already installed 2 Other World Computing SSDs (one in place of the failing disc drive bay) and now the pretty useless original Apple battery has been swapped out for this one.It works quite well. Even after conditioning the battery after installation, it took some time before it would charge fully up to 100%. It soon enough settled in and considering it's powering two drives and a large screen, it lasts well. Haven't tested the length of time but it feels good as compared to other laptops and the large iPad I use. I recommend it.

Purchased for a mid 2010 17” MacBook Pro, very satisfied so far, great price, easy installation, good runtime. The first 3-4 cycles were very short. I have ran it through about 8 cycles and now it is lasting much longer. I found that to get a full cycle for the best charge boot the MBP to the boot options screen by holding the option button at the sound of the boot up chime and just let it sit there until it dies then plug it back in and keep it completely off until fully charged. Typically, I am getting about 3+ hours at half brightness.

This battery worked wonderfully for a month; I unfortunately can no longer charge my MacBook. After a month of usage the battery will no longer charge, and my MacBook will no longer turn on. This has been confirmed by a local Mac repair business. Unfortunately I am outside of the window of return or replacement so I think I have to eat this cost. Please be warned before purchasing this battery. I followed initial install & charging instructions to a T. Extremely disappointed.

This is my first time writing a review, since this item and others like it don't have many review, I thought I'd add one. I was looking to upgrade/update my MacBook Pro 17 inch late 2010 model and wanted to find a battery that had good ratings and wasn't as pricey, this met my requirements and I'm very satisfied. I'm typing on my MacBook as we speak and have been using the battery for two months now without issue. It was very easy to install, and I'm very glad it came with tools, I would purchase this brand again.

Decent battery but on my MBP 17 in (mid-2010) the battery only lasts about an hour and a half doing very light/minimal tasks that requires very little power consumption. I may need to upgrade and get a longer lasting battery but the performance of this one is operating at the low/reasonable price I bought it at, so what can ya expect.

Great battery, perfect fit for my Macbook pro. Runs much better now!

Requires some fitting out:Battery overall is fine The minor issue was that the holes for the retaining screws in the mounting tabs of the battery were too narrow, they would not allow enough lateral, sidevto side movement to align the holes in the battery mounting tabs with the tapped holes in the laptop case. The holes were wider in the original batteryA needle file was used to enlarge the holes in the battery mounting tabs to obtain fit.
